The Innkeepers

Our life has taken us on an adventure that has been interesting, amusing, scary and exciting since we first came to the states over 25 years ago and became American citizens. Out children and grandchildren are scattered around the world seeking their own adventures in Australia, Paris, New York, Houston and Corpus Christi. They join us here as often as they can. We are proud to be American, however such a big part of out lives was spent in the Old World that sometimes we must seem odd to some of our guests!. As our old habits have not changed - we still detest fast food - my children would laugh and say, "Well, yes, you are odd!" I suppose life opened some strange doors to us and circumstances made us who we are.

Yves was born in Algeria, than a French colony, and at the age of 10 years was sent to school in France, a Mariste Boarding school that was quite rigid for a small boy. As a result, I think he developed a tough outer layer but you can stick your finger through it fairly easily! I was born in Dorset, South of England, on the edge of a large harbor rather like the Laguna Madre, but much more beautiful and much cooler.

Yve's career changes have been pretty entertaining after the more formal lifestyle of a Parisian Insurer! He became the proud owner of citrus groves in the Rio Grande Valley, developer in the Virgin Island, cigar importer and manufacturer in the Dominican Republic, Realtor and now appraiser. My life has been following him around, being fortunate to be involved in some great companies along the way, and very often catering parties as a sideline --Which has become very useful now.

We left the Virgin Islands over 10 years ago. I was licking my wounds after we lost our home in a hurricane, and finally persuaded Yves to come back to Texas where we have some very special friends. It's difficult for us to be too far from the sea, so here we are, retired........ kind of!
